Freeborn Slave.

Labouring sinews stretch taut;
At breaking point,
With painful rhythm;
The axe picks at gloomy soil,
Life is sown,life is seized

And the winds carry the tales,
We shudder and mope
We wonder at the hellishness;
The heart of man can conjure.

Dusk till Dawn,
Despair shakes them to wakefulness,
And it lies with them;
Clinging tightly as a new bride,
As they drift off to lofty dreams,
Of when men were once men.

I tell the story of man on his knees before man,
One,maddened by pain,
That which is caused by striking of flesh;
Forgotten,
And knowledge claws at the heart;
As freeborn turns slave.
